We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Transportation Director to lead our LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) and small parcel operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods across the globe.

Summary:
As the Director of Transportation, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our transportation department, with a specific focus on LTL and small parcel services. You will leverage your expertise in both domestic and international logistics to optimize our operations, improve efficiency, and drive cost-effective solutions. Your strategic leadership will play a critical role in achieving our company’s goals and exceeding customer expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive transportation strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business objectives.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- LTL and Small Parcel Expertise: Apply in-depth knowledge of LTL and small parcel logistics to enhance the efficiency of domestic and international shipments.
- Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with carriers, forwarders, brokerages, etc., negotiate contracts, and monitor performance to ensure service quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on transportation regulations, customs requirements, and trade compliance to ensure full adherence in all operations.
- Technology Integration: Implement and leverage transportation management systems (TMS) and other technologies to streamline processes, track shipments, and provide real-time visibility.
- Cost Control: Develop and manage transportation budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively address potential challenges such as supply chain disruptions, customs issues, and security concerns.
- Performance Metrics: Define and track KPIs to measure the success of transportation operations, regularly reporting on progress and recommending improvements.
- Customer Focus: Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to enhance customer satisfaction by meeting delivery commitments and providing solutions to transportation challenges.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
– 10+ years of experience in transportation and logistics, with a significant focus on LTL and small parcel services.
– Strong knowledge of domestic and international transportation regulations, customs, and compliance.
– Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
– Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
– Proficiency in transportation management systems and related technology.
– Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
– Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Physical Demands:
Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other Sedentary criteria are met.
