The Product Developer I will be responsible for taking products from concept to retail shelves. This is a high visibility and high impact role at a fast-growing company. We are seeking a Product Developer I with an exceptional organization mindset who is comfortable working in a fast growth environment. In this position you will be working with our engineering, marketing, and sales teams to ensure new products are developed on time and on budget. It is critical to foster strong relationships with internal departments and our vendors to ensure the product meets design, quality, and functional requirements. Equally important is the financial side, which means staying true to the cost targets so we can achieve our margin goals and key performance indicators.
Reporting to the Director of Product Development and working across all functional silos, the Product Developer I is based in Biddeford, ME at our Sterling Rope factory.
Responsibilities:
- Manage product development in R.A.C.I. environment while keeping internal team informed on both challenges and opportunities along the way
- Create and monitor calendars to ensure timelines of deliverables
- Create and maintain strong relationships with factory partners to ensure successful execution of product development process
- Responsible for product data management, tech pack creation, and product requirements documentation (PRD) completion upon PO placement in line with our ISO process
- Work closely with Supply Chain to assess existing supplier network and identify / onboard new suppliers as needed
- Acts as project manager across product teams in Engineering, Quality, Sales, Operations, and Marketing

- Meticulous attention to detail and time management skills with the ability to follow projects at every stage through completion
- Ability to influence at all levels of an organization, both internally and externally, and present solutions as challenges arise
- The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, think critically, manage multiple priorities, and adhere to strict deadlines
Experience:
- Experience and expertise in new product development including costing
- Comfortable working with outside vendors, international and domestic, and cross-functionally with internal stakeholders
- Strong process management skills
- Strong experience in use of programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook
- Working knowledge of programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, SolidWorks are a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural and high paced environment
Travel:
- Domestic and international, up to 20% of the time.
