Opportunity:

The Sales Manager – Utility Market is responsible for the growth & expansion of VSG’s Utility Channel for the North American market across all relevant customer types including utility providers, utility contractors, resellers, specialty distributors, and other national accounts.

The ideal candidate is a highly passionate & motivated team player who will work closely with the internal/external sales teams across all channels within the organization to act as a resource guiding them to develop the knowledge, comfort, and experience to successfully sell on their own within the Utility markets.

The ultimate objective will be to exceed sales & profitability goals for VSG’s business in this targeted channels by successfully executing in the field to meet & exceed the needs of customers and lead to a successful result for the Customer and VSG.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly lead the development & sales growth of the Utility channel with all VSG products in National, Regional, Local, & Specialty accounts
  • Collaborate with Product/Category Management teams on product offering, positioning, & pricing across all channels of responsibility
  • Participate in creating and implementing sales promotions by working closely with the respective internal/external sales organizations – collaborate with appropriate Product Manager and Marketing teams
  • Provide relevant market info ‘from the road’ for competitive review across all channels with implications and recommended actions for relevant VSG products.
  • Identify meaningful consumer insights and recommend appropriate action plans (where applicable)
  • Monitor market trends and work with Product Management to capitalize on new product/business opportunities
  • Lead, develop, and manage product training program for/to retailers, sales reps, customer support, and any other relevant company associates collaborate with PM and Marketing as required
  • Teach sales representatives to become fluent in and more effective at, conducting product and sales training and act as the “expert” to personally conduct customer trainings when applicable
  • Continuously evaluate and strategically propose ideas to grow VSG’s Utility channel strategy across all relevant distribution channels
  • Develop and deliver the Utility sales budget and multi-year objectives, strategies, and measures for the North American market for all VSG products across all aligned channels
  • Co-ordinate & manage the development of monthly & yearly customer sales forecasts
  • Collaborate in hiring, developing & retaining highly productive, diverse, passionate, and results-driven sales team (where applicable)
  • Provide field support, coaching & guidance for independent agencies/sales representatives through frequent joint sales calls, training sessions, business development meetings, & applicable trade shows
  • Monitor and regularly report on sales within the work category across all channels in order to identify areas needing additional sales focus and activity
  • Identify & attend appropriate trade shows and work closely with the respective internal sales and marketing organizations for support on these shows to maximize ROI for VSG
  • Other Duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Requirements:

  • A or B.S. degree (preferred)
  • 10+ years of relevant channel experience in sales (utility channel experience preferred)
  • A sales professional with a proven track record of prospecting, managing accounts, & growing sales while dealing with a varied customer base across diverse channels
  • Experience of working with independent rep. firms, service agencies and/or regional distributors
  • Leadership and management of cross-functional team(s)
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify market trends and analyze sales data
  • Strong computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Domestic travel – e.g. trade shows & customer visits
  • Ability to spend at least 25% of time traveling (including over weekends) to customers, events, and trade shows.

Physical Demands:

Light Work involves lifting up to 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Frequent walking, standing, and sitting. Frequent reaching and/or grasping using hands and/or arms. Frequent use of hands requiring dexterity in using the telephone, computer keyboard, or other objects. Visual ability including distance, peripheral and depth perception. Regularly required to talk and hear.
