Senior Director of Supply Chain

 Summary:

The Vertical Supply Group (VSG) Supply Chain Director will lead our supply chain team, which is responsible for unit sales forecasting/demand planning, purchasing, inbound logistics optimization, vendor management and quality, to execute successfully against our ambitious business plans.  The SCD will build and lead the team and infrastructure development that will allow us to continue to scale across multiple channels, geographies, product categories, brands and acquisitions over the years to come.

As one of the most senior roles in the company, the Senior Supply Chain Director, will report to the COO, and will provide enterprise leadership to help define, guide and translate VSG’s strategy and values to our vendors and supply partners.  She or he will serve as the voice and leader on behalf of the company to our supply chain and throughout the organization to ensure that all involved parties understand and are bought into our long-term strategic objectives.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cost effective inventory and procurement process with exceptional service levels
  • Leading a supply chain team across multiple geographies/countries – for example, giving guidance to a group in Europe
  • Experience in eCommerce or distribution businesses
  • Experience in supporting manufacturing operations
  • Great experience with vendor management, scorecards, and strategic vendor development
  • Coordinate, facilitate, train, and prioritize inventory needs between business group, product management and IT
  • Ensure min max levels are setup across all inventory items as appropriate
  • Manage and oversee the stock review process; recommend items to buy in bulk quantities and support new product introduction initiatives through appropriate sourcing methods
  • Lead rollout of inventory management best practices and tools across the organization through use of statistical approaches to forecasting, inventory & replenishment planning
  • Grow team to manage inventory planning and demand systems centrally
  • Evaluate and recap seasonal performance to influence future strategies
  • Collaborate with vendors and escalate supply chain planning and inventory management, replenishment related issues, and/or opportunities to leadership, providing and implementing business focused recommendations and insights.
  • Ensure procurement is managed to reduce net landed costs, maximize cost savings, optimize inventory balances, and meet service levels.
  • Create, maintain and regularly update vendor management and compliance programs, work with the Operations Director on collaborative implementation
  • Develop strategies for supplier negotiations and effective inventory
  • Occasionally visit with vendors both internationally and domestically on an as needed basis
  • Optimize Sherrill’s in-bound logistics for both international and domestic deliveries
  • Work closely with the merchant and sales teams to develop an inventory plan that can keep up with company growth
  • Work with the merchant and marketing team to suggest products and suppliers to eliminate due to poor QC, delivery, pricing or compliance.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, occasionally liaising directly with the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure that global operational priorities are clearly defined and aligned across all teams with objective metrics to measure success and drive accountability
  • Identify organizational talent opportunities and/or gaps within the first six months and layout hiring and individualized development plans to support organizational evolution
  • Strive for 100% on-time deliveries from Sherrill’s partners and identify gaps.
  • Establish inventory turns objectives along with monitoring stock-out and overstock rates.
  • Establish a clear sourcing and logistics strategy across our portfolio to achieve annual cost down targets across all major suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of experience managing teams across a broad swath of operational functions, including Strategic Sourcing, Sales Planning and Supply Chain Analytics
  • Have served as a senior executive and in an operational leadership role at a large fast-moving consumer goods organization.
  • Additional experience at a smaller company is ideal, preferably in a faster moving high growth environment.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading Sourcing/Procurement, Sales & Operations Planning and Quality.
  • Experience in managing a multi functioning team
  • Experience in integrating teams following an acquisition process
  • Experience in managing operational functions for multiple brands simultaneously.
  • Metrics driven with the ability to establish goals and measure and report performance against those goals.
  • Extremely detail oriented and well-versed in all the minutia of businesses

Physical Demands:

Light Work involves lifting to 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Frequent walking, standing, and sitting. Frequent reaching and/or grasping using hands and/or arms. Frequent use of hands requiring dexterity in using the telephone, computer keyboard, or other objects. Visual ability including distance, peripheral and depth perception. Regularly required to talk and hear.
