The Heavy Sewing Machine Operator for the class 3 & 4 & 5 sewing machines is responsible for sewing and bartacking various products. This hands-on position requires sewing skills, initiative, and judgment in solving problems that might occur. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and take initiative.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for sewing 3, 4, and 5-point patterns accurately; sewing 3 or more layers of webbing accurately.
- Operate all Bartacking machines and setup machines to include threading; top and bottom tension adjustment; bobbin adjustment; adjusting width and length of Bartack machine.
- Will be “Boxing Out” of Class II and Class III Harness i.e., Heavy Rescues, NFPA Seats, Tech FB Assaults, etc.
- Identifying all thread types and sizes by spools; 69, 92, 138, 207, 346, 415 Nylon, Polyester & Kevlar and applying them accurately.
- Assist with other duties as required or instructed by leadership.
Qualifications:
- General Education required.
- The ability to communicate, read and write in the English Language is required.
- The ability to read a basic tape measure and understand basic math.
- Manufacturing sewing experience required.
- Must be able to perform efficiently and effectively to meet close deadlines.
- Must be able to read drawings accurately, execute all sewing and marking procedures from patterns.

Heavy Work involves exerting 50 – 100 pounds of force occasionally, or in excess of 50 pounds frequently or in excess of 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Frequent reaching and/or grasping using hands and/or arms. Frequent use of hands requiring dexterity in using the telephone, computer keyboard, or other objects. Visual ability including distance, peripheral and depth perception. Regularly required to talk and hear.
- Employees are required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch, or walk a minimum of 20%.
- Employees may be seated, at minimum, 60% of time working.
- Must be able to lift a minimum 35lbs and drag 70 lbs.
