Job Summary: The Splicer is responsible for the accurate and efficient splicing of ropes according to customer specifications and company standards. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work with various rope materials and splicing techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rope Splicing: Perform a variety of splicing techniques, including eye splicing, short splicing, and long splicing, on different types of ropes.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed splices to ensure they meet all required specifications and standards for strength, appearance, and functionality.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot splicing tools and machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the production team to coordinate splicing activities with other production processes, ensuring timely completion of orders.
- Documentation: Accurately document splicing work, including measurements, materials used, and any issues encountered during the process.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
- General Support: Assist with other production tasks, such as cutting, braiding, and packaging ropes, as required.
- Cross Function tasks: you will be required to cross train in other manufacturing departments and machines.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience in rope splicing or a related craft is highly desirable. Familiarity with different types of ropes and splicing techniques is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret specifications and work orders.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of work. Ability to detect and correct errors in splicing.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy materials.
- Teamwork: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues with splicing and equipment and find practical solutions.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Protective gear, such as gloves and safety glasses, may be required.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
